Description
A traditional wooden tub used for preparing sushi rice.
Also known as a hangiri, the handai is designed to mix and cool sushi rice. The natural wood surface absorbs excess moisture, helping create glossy, perfectly textured rice—something that cannot be achieved with glass or metal bowls.
Crafted from thick Kiso sawara cypress sourced from 130-year-old trees in Shinshu, this piece is both durable and beautifully finished, with a subtle natural aroma.
The large size holds up to 5 go of uncooked rice (approximately 1.66 kg cooked), making it ideal for gatherings and home parties.
